The Thorn Within the Rose
Taerga is a collection of island chains, underwater volcanoes, and small archipelagos that composes the north pole. Surprisingly tropical, these islands vary from marshy and swampland chains with uncertain footing to hot, natural sands with a single palm tree. Taerga is very isolated from the rest of Orrthus by violent waters. The only time it is reachable is when Aeia’s flight comes over, a three day burst worth of trading and festivities.
Taerga, unlike the rest of Orrthus, has green and blue water between it’s miniature landmasses. However, the real beauty and treasure of the islands is its thriving culture and society. The gnomes, fleeing their former Fey realm, came to Taerga first, and its isolation gave birth to a unique way of life. The entirety of the island chain is connected by an intricate latticework of permanent teleportation circles suspended in mid air. In fact, entire villages are only reachable by teleportation. Each circle is covered in paints, beads, leaves, and odd fetishes showing where they go and what gnome tribes are and aren’t welcome at the destination. The bizarre network of clan loyalties is something a Taergan knows better than to try to explain to an outsider. Many colors and pigments are unique to Taerga, making it a favorite, if difficult, destination for elves and humans alike to visit for unique cloth and tattoos.
